The project „Foreign-Home?“ was an encounter with the European history of 1945. Its focus was the changing borders after War World II and the related topics of escape and displacement. Regarding the participating countries – Germany, Poland and Ukraine - this topic is especially interesting as these countries were adversely affected more than most other European countries by the decisions taken at the Potsdam Conference. The historical events in the aftermath of WW II forced millions of Germans, Polish and Ukraine people to leave their homes and find a new homeland. The country project participants call home today might be foreign to their grandparents. Remembering the difficult past and looking towards a united Europe with less and less borders the project discussed common cultural roots and reflected history beyond (national) perceptions.
